Fired
Up
The American people are wondering around
lost and scared in this big world we live in. Every four years we seek out a
new leader to be the one that stands in front of the loaded guns of the world
as they watch our every move waiting for a moment of weakness to arise. Obama
in his campaign Advertisement argues that one voice can change the world and
his voice has been that call of reason to the world for the past four years.
Four years ago we elected in
President Barack Obama to take the leadership position of this country and
sought out guidance on the long journey that awaited us in the next four years.
In Obama’s campaign Ad. About being “fired up”, he stated that one voice
changed the room as it echoed from behind him and slowly chanted “Fired up, Ready
to go” as the room became progressively louder. Using just his words, Obama
painted a clear picture of what occurred on that raining afternoon in the small
town of Greenwood SC. Using visual Rhetoric in his campaign Ad, Obama opens the Ad with an elderly woman
repeatedly stating “Fired up, Ready to go.” This small statement opens up to
his speech before the election saying how just one voice changed everything for
him when he was just a senator.
As Obama progresses in his speech it cuts in
and out to the same elderly lady describing his first visit to the local
community center in the small town of Greenwood SC. The Ad reveals how Obama is
human, and much like everyone, gets a little upset when his umbrella breaks and
gets poured on, especially after a six-hour drive. This Ad is powerful because
it not only reveals how Obama is not only human but he knows the power of one
voice. He openly states how if this one woman’s voice can get him “Fired up”
and “Ready to go,” then he believes that one persons voice can change the
world. Obama for the past four years has been that small barrier that stood between the world and us. He has not only saved the economy by dropping the unemployment rate by 4% in the past four years, but he has also ended the war on terror and protected the American people. Obama has heard the cry of the people and he, much like all of us, has seen the trouble we are in due to the last president. Before he came into office, America had hit rock bottom and was on the verge of another depression. When people say that Obama hasn’t done anything to help this country, that’s much like saying you watched someone pick up a rock and before watching them throw it turned away. The American people don’t see change because they choose not to watch it happen. The Stock Market jumped 300 points within his first 2 years in office and that to me is placing that boulder he picked up pretty far ahead.
The President has the toughest job in the world. The weight of the world is on his shoulders, and with any slip up, it could all cave in. No one realizes that the President is the voice of the people, and when he changes ideas or opinions, he is doing it based on what the people have told him. Obama is one of the first Presidents other than JFK, or Clinton to actually listen to majority vote. The President isn’t God, and if you’ve seen Bruce Almighty, everyone knows that if what everyone wanted came true, no one would be happy. The President must decipher between choices and choose what’s best for the US. His choices may not be popular for some people, but if we stopped and looked at how far that rock he’s thrown has come, it’s better than sitting on the ground going nowhere.
